Unit Price Calculator
Unit Price Calculator
Compare price per unit, item, gram, ounce, pound, kg, ml, liter, gallon, pack, or serving. Add multiple products, discounts, tax, and purchase quantity to find the best value and estimate how much you can save.
Unit price = total price ÷ total quantity. For example, if a 2 kg rice bag costs $12, the unit price is $6 per kg. The lowest unit price is usually the best value when quality and freshness are similar.

Unit price helps compare value, but the best purchase can also depend on quality, freshness, expiry date, delivery cost, brand trust, storage space, and whether you will use the full quantity.
What is a unit price calculator?
A unit price calculator compares products by converting the price and package size into a common cost per unit. Instead of guessing which pack is cheaper, you can compare items by price per kg, gram, ounce, pound, liter, gallon, serving, pack, or item.
This is especially useful when two products have different sizes, discounts, or package counts. A smaller product may look cheaper at the shelf, but a larger pack may have a lower unit price.

Unit price formula
The basic formula is simple:
- Unit price = total price ÷ total quantity
- Discounted price = price − discount
- Price with tax = discounted price + tax or fee
- Estimated saving = higher unit price − best unit price
Example: A 5 kg bag costs $20. The unit price is $20 ÷ 5 = $4 per kg.
How to compare unit prices
- Enter each product name, price, quantity, and unit.
- Add a discount percentage if one product is on sale.
- Add tax or fee percentage if you want the final cost included.
- Select the unit you want to compare by, such as per kg or per ounce.
- Check the best value result and estimated saving before buying.
When the cheapest unit price is not always best
The lowest unit price is helpful, but it should not be the only decision. A large bulk pack may have the best unit price, but it may not be the best buy if it expires before you use it or if storage space is limited.
- Check expiration date and freshness.
- Compare product quality and reviews.
- Include delivery fees or membership costs when needed.
- Do not buy a large quantity only because the unit price is lower.
- For business stock, include storage, spoilage, and cash flow.
